Hi too everyone
I am looking for few parts for my Dodge in order too continue to drive it safety. I have problems with brake drums that are not round anymore and i already turn them. I am now out of specifications and yesterday i got scared on the highway with my daughter because of them. The traffic stops very hard and even if I always keep a large safe distance between my car and the others, I was not sure to be abble too manage the situation but Hoppefully I stopped it.
That means that i Have too find drums in good condition that i still could turn if it is necessairy. My brakes are the 12" diameter that seems to be difficult to find but maybe one of the forum member will have the parts I need.

In another hand i am surching for cosmetics parts like the 2 rear bumper guards that i don't have anymore

Keep safe and have a nice week-end

jerome

If you are talking about front drums, I have a bunch of them that I could sell you with the hubs still attached. Let me know the minimum diameter so I can measure mine.
If you would like new drums, you can purchase them new, but you would need to attach them to your hubs and center them very well.

Jerome: *IF* you can't find the front drums that you need (maybe from someone who is on the forum from Germany or Sweden ??),
I would recommend going to front discs using the 57-61 Mopar front disc kit from Scarebird.

I successfully adapted that kit to replace 12" Chrysler front brakes on my 56 Dodge. You would NOT have to modify anything. Should be a
complete bolt on.

I would buy their kit *AND* their optional slightly larger (2.75" pistons vs 2.0" pistons) calipers for an extra US$138 a pair.

https://www.scarebird.com/shop/fwd-c20-sb1036-1957-61-plymouth-dodge...

https://www.scarebird.com/shop/mst-sb1027-monster-caliper-3150#attr=

You would also have to buy the 1977 Chrysler Cordoba rotors (Raybestos 7038R) and appropriate hoses.

https://partsavatar.ca/1975-1979-dodge-charger-magnum-coronet-front-...

Going to a dual pot disc/drum master and proportioning valve is advisable.

Stock brakes on 58 Dodges were 11 x 2 1/2". It's possible that someone swapped 12 x 2 1/2" brakes from a Chrysler or Desoto. I did that on my 58 Plymouth. You'll have to get new brake drum/hub assemblies from a parts car, since they are not available. And they have to be drum/hub assemblies. Don't fall for ads saying 'new drums'. They will not work. Also, never separate drums from the hubs.

I recommend contacting John Fowlie at Big M Automotive (BigMAuto.com). He can get you a good used set.

Hi,
No i am not leaving in Vaduz (Actually Lichtenstein) but in Vaud one of the French speaking part of switzerland. The plate number on the car are use for Worshops if the car is not having a Title already. That's was the case the day i took these pictures 3 years ago. I will measure my drums tomorrow, the 12x2.5" is the diameter indicate in the parts catalog for the 58 Sierra but i might have the chance to be in 11".
Thanks for BigMauto.com adress i will take an eye on that website.

From what I have read,

a) the maximum internal diameter should be stamped on the drum

b) a "typical" maximum for an 11" drum is 11.080"

IF those are 11 x 2.5" drums, Mopar Mall in the US says that they have them, but at a heart stopping price:

Another possibility is to contact the Swedes, who have imported many cars and parts cars from the US. I'm sure shipping would be a lot less than from here.

Did you try: bigmauto@colusanet.com

http://www.bigmauto.com/

I think that Mopar Mall gets their drums from wrecking yards. I think I remember that they check them for run-out and wear limits and if they pass those, they turn the drums (presumably not more
than the maximum allowed).

But check their website again

From Mopar Mall's website:

" Reconditioned RH or LH 11" front brake drum/hub assembly for the following cars with 11" brakes and 2 1/2" wide shoes: 1957-58 Dodge Coronet - Custom Royal - Royal - Sierra, 1957-58 DeSoto
FireSweep and 1958 Chrysler Windsor. These drums were sourced from cars being parted-out and were inspected for condition and then turned and are ready to install + + + + Specify year and if for
RH side or LH side when ordering"

Mopar Mall is a ripoff. There is no need to pay their ridiculous prices. And don't believe the 'where ya gonna find another' nonsense. I've never had problems finding rare parts at reasonable prices. You just need a little patience.

Best way to contact John Fowlie/Big M is via facebook.

In an old thread that also dealt with your brakes, John even replied to you personally, but obviously you don't contacted him.
