Board Moderator Posts: 105 ![]() Location: Baltimore, Maryland | Hello, has anyone with a 57 D500 ordered an exhaust system from Waldron's? I'm trying to set an order up but they really don't have the information on the system. Does anyone have the mopar exhaust catalog from the late 50s? The 55-58 parts book really doesn't differentiate the difference between a 325 poly and a d500 exhaust system, particularly the pipes. I find it hard to believe (but not impossible) the poly and hemi would have the exact same head pipes. Let me know what you ordered if you have a 57 D-500. I'm looking to go precise restoration with the pipes and muffler dimensions. Thanks for your time.

I ordered a manifold(s) to muffler(s) pipe set from Waldron's for my 56 Dodge D500 as a 56 Dodge V8 (probably poly - it's all the template(s) that they have). I am not unhappy. Comparing the diameters of the pipe at the manifold flange to the original equipment D500 downpipe, I think that the Waldron's is at least as big, if not bigger. Here is a link to the 56-57 Left side D500 exhaust manifold 1634 446 on ebay https://www.ebay.ca/itm/376634234248? And one of the Sono 4X mufflers used on the 56 and 57 D500s (personally, I think that they are ugly): https://www.ebay.ca/itm/126221139625? ![]()

What is the cost comparison Waldrons vs custom exhaust shop? There is one shop here that does custom. I am considering getting my dual exhaust renewed. Price????? Del

What is the cost comparison Waldrons vs custom exhaust shop? The only issue that I had was mating the new Waldron's down pipe (and extension) to the 2.25" custom system that I had "stick built" back in early 2017. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=75419&... Board Moderator Posts: 105 ![]() Location: Baltimore, Maryland | Ok, so here's what I've put together from the Nov 10, 1958 parts book and some lucky eBay search. * = verified D500 part number per the parts book. ?= Unsure although the parts book mentioned in the beginning, all parts are the same for D500 unless otherwise noted. Headpipes 1736881(R)* 1733420(L)? Intermediate Pipes 1736839(R)? 1736835(L)? Mufflers 1943924* Sono 4x, Measures about 33” total length, 29” long body, 8” wide and 3-1/2” high. Inlet and outlet is approximately 2”. Tailpipes 1733412(L)* 1733413(R)* I'm wondering if anyone has any earlier catalog pre 1958 that would provide confirmation. Thanks for your time everyone. Board Moderator Posts: 105 ![]() Location: Baltimore, Maryland | Hello. Yes, I did and I truly appreciate your support. Unfortunately I believe there are holes or errors in the 55-58 parts catalog. I'm going to validate my suspicions by obtaining a pre 1958 model year parts catalog and cross referencing a walker exhaust catalog. I believe I have a Walker exhaust catalog at home that I'll see in a few days and I believe a friend of mine has a 57 only catalog. Once I correlate all the data, I will share my findings with everyone. Again, I truly appreciate the willingness to help, support and taking time to post information. With Waldron's, I'll only have one shot to get it right on my end as it could become very costly if the mistake/misinformation is due to errors on my part. I will keep you all posted. Thanks.

Geoff: If what you have was truly for a low deck 241/270 engine, then, unfortunately it will not work on a 315/325 tall deck engine. The factory widened the intake on the tall deck engines to chase the heads as they "rose" above the block, as shown in a snippet from the Dead Dodge Garage 241 double-rocker tear down video (a wealth of engine minutiae for those that like that stuff) at around 5:30 in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBMNc0ztzLU (LowDeck241_270VersusTallDeck315_325IntakeManifoldWidths.jpg) Attachments ---------------- LowDeck241_270VersusTallDeck315_325IntakeManifoldWidths.jpg (123KB - 138 downloads)

Veteran Posts: 223 ![]() ![]() Location: christchurch New Zealand | Yes, correct on variation of width. I bought this new for a 241 hemi, sold to me to fit a 241. How ever on arrival it turned out to be for a 315/325. now surplus to my requirements, as i don't have any 315/325 powered vehicles. Geoff

Board Moderator Posts: 105 ![]() Location: Baltimore, Maryland | Hello Everyone. I have an update to the D-500 exhaust research. After working with Ruth at Waldron's, she was able to dig up very early exhaust catalogs and determine the D-500 had the same head pipes and intermediate pipes but had a different set of tailpipes and mufflers. The catalog she used was from 59/60. I had a later Walker exhaust catalog from '68 where the D-500 mufflers were listed but the tailpipes had been superceded to a generic number for all 57 Dodge Dual exhaust systems. She was kind enough to send me a copy of the attachment. I have attached the early catalog along with my 68 catalog for your review. Thanks for all of your help and conversation.. I'm ordering the system next week and should have it by end of March. Will keep you posted on the install/results. Thanks again.
