Hey just putting it out there
has anybody converted non power windows to power windows in a 1955 Chrysler or similar before?
I was thinking of the aftermarket kits used on hot rods etc, and I think this would work for the front windows
but not sure about the rears as the windows dont go straight up and down

any comments or help on this would be great. I have not made the new door cards yet
or even got near painting the doors so ideal time to do this

I haven't done it, but I can imagine that you could do the rears by keeping the same tracks for the window to run in. You just have to electrify the crank portion. I will be looking to do something like this too if I can't find original setups for my '56 Belvedere convertible. I agree with a statement by Doc a while ago that power windows are nearly essential in a convertible, and just a gimmick on other body styles.

Not as hard as you think. Here's a tutorial.

The YouTube video is for a sedan body. The windows travel a straight up-and-down route. It gets way more complicated for a hardtop model. So what is shown in the video won't work.

I converted my 55 Desoto 2dr HT to power windows. I had a complete set from a 55 New Yorker 2dr HT, which included the relays that go in the quarter panels. I also had the 55-only power window switch. I built the harness from scratch using the schematic in the shop manual. Windows work well, but will be slow unless the engine is running, even with a fully-charged battery.
