| I'm purchasing a 1958 Dodge Coronet. I've looked over the vin and body tags and it looks like the car is a 1958 Coronet V8 made at the Los Angeles plant. It looks like it was made on 12/16/57. It's a 2 door hard top and I believe the 4 under the M2 means it is a Super D500. Not sure about the rest. It does look to be a very low option car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Location: So. Cal | I always thought of Dodge as being the muscle of Mopar and this car is a perfect example. The official definition of a muscle car is a low cost intermediate body with the largest, most powerful engine, and very few other options. The poor man's hot rod. This car is definitely that. A low-option Coronet with the highest power engine you could put into it - outside of the 392 from Chrysler. Very cool.
The '56 D500-1 and the '57 D501 are more great examples of a true '50's muscle car.
