| Hey guys
Were painted rims an original option in 1958 on Chrysler?
I've seen some pictures of painted rims, but were they originally painted? |

Location: The Centennial State | Are you asking about body-color painted rims? There was a thread on here a long time ago about body-color painted rims on Dodges in 1958. We discovered that some of the less expensive models without the full wheelcover option had body-color painted rims. I don't know if any 1958 Chryslers had simple hubcaps, but maybe, just maybe - if they did, it could be the same as Dodge (?) |

| yes, painted rims in the same color as the car, where only the outer edge appears painted.
I saw a sales brochure for the New Yorker from 1958.
There the rim was painted the same color as the car.
I know that some car dealers could fulfill different wishes for customers with regard to painting.
But I wonder if it was done originally from the factory. |

Keep in mind that sales brochures have to be printed in the months preceding the new model year and distributed to the show rooms. So specifically to 1958, those model year cars started production in July and were in showrooms in September. So when they made the brochures, they had 1957 cars as examples of how things would be done. And all brochures are artists drawings, not production cars. |

Location: So. Cal | The Windsor did come with dog dish caps, and I would assume that they also had body painted rims to go with them. However, the Windsor is the only Chrysler that came with these caps. The other rims were just painted black. I have a number of original rims from my '57 New Yorkers. |
