Not the first time. I thought maybe this one, still in its NORS box, would make pumpy sucky noises right of said box.

BUT NO.

Lever arm doesn't what to budge.

Suggestions? Bigger hammer?

They can be a bit stiff when fresh. I'd clamp the flange in a vise and put a cheater on the lever arm and gently try to move it.

Find an original Carter fuel pump that was built for your car. Rebuild it with a kit from Then and Now. Never have to deal with aftermarket junk again.

Ron: That would be ideal. However, in 10 plus years of daily searches on eBay, not once did I see an actual appropriate Carter fuel pump pop-up,
even as a rebuildable core. I would love a stamped steel lever arm but NOPE.

Hence, I end up with NORS pumps or new pumps like an AirTex 4280 (now even that one is no longer available)

I think the closest I could come is an Edelbrock 1720 made for small block "LA" mopar engines (probably would need
the Hot Heads (or the like) spacer.) But the 1720 is "temporarily out of stock" so there you go. (Or NO GO as it were )

Dave - I'm seeing two different numbers for your fuel pump: 1450709 is what's listed in the 55-6 parts book, while 1692747 is what's in the 55-8 parts book. The good news is that it's the same for all 56 Dodge V8s. So it should be fairly easy to get one from a parts car. John Fowlie, Don Petty (who sold me the original fuel pump for my 55 Desoto), Wildcat, French Lake are places that come to mind. Ebay's search engine is such a pain to work with. It's pretty much broken at this point.

If you want specific stuff on eBay put parentheses around what you are looking for.

This keeps the garbage ads away.

I always search (56 Dodge) and I only get 56 Dodge stuff. Admittedly, I might get 56 Dodge
Power Wagon stuff as well as 56 Dodge car stuff.

Works.

Try it.

I think Sven (wizard) told me that trick a few years ago and I have been using it
ever since. WORKS.

Cuts out the BS/cr@p
