Did anyone attend the Wapato car show in Gaston Oregon Saturday?
My nephew was there for his first show with my old 1950 Dodge that has been in the family since new.
He was disappointed that his all original 76 year old car did not get a trophy. (I had many when the car was mine)
He felt that the trophy sponsors gave their trophies to their buddies.
A big disappointment to a new car show participant.

Are there any car clubs in the Forest Grove area he could join?

Tell him that trophies are worthless pieces of plastic used to stoke people's over-amplified egos. They have no value at all, and shouldn't be used outside of grade school. Build the car because you like it and want to drive it, not for some lame plastic monstrosity.

I am not a trophy hog.
I have saved two or three trophies from each of the collector cars that I have owned.
I think that a trophy that is awarded by a knowledgeable judge, shows respect for the engineering that designed a car to last 50 years, and appreciation for the efforts of the owner/restorer in maintaining the car for future generations to see.
I enjoy looking at my trophies just as I enjoy using a souvenir coffee mug from a favorite vacation. Each brings a smile to my face of a good time in my life.
