Expert Posts: 1357 Location: Iowa USA | Is the guy that runs the Volo Auto Museum really that stupid or is it the reporter? ""Museum President Greg Grams said the sale is being held because his showrooms are packed and he has to make room for new exhibits. He expressed reluctance about peddling some of the items, especially authentic movie vehicles such as a police car from the 2005 movie The Dukes of Hazzard (yours for $17,998) and the original 1957 Plymouth Fury used in the film version of Stephen King's Christine (on sale for $125,000)."" Do they have a 57 fury (painted red) they are trying to pass off as THE original from the movie? or do they have one of the 20 some 1958 Belvederes that were used in the movie? Here is the article if you want to read the whole article http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/newssun/city/w25volosa.htm maybe the museum president or the reporter needs to be strapped into the electric chair they are selling until they get the year and model correct?

Member Posts: 25 | I have seen this car and it's a 57. The owner is or must be a friend of the dealership because this car was NEVER used in that film. I think they are both on crack or something...$125,000! Gimmy a break! I would not give him $125.00 for it. When he saw my car in the July reader's page in Hemmings he looked me up and wanted to know if I had any bumper wings I could sell him. The car is behind a rope so I could not walk around the car and he tinted the windows so dark you can't see inside. I don't think I would like what I would see in there! Volo Auto has long been known as an overpriced place to find old cars. They must cater to the rich and naive northsiders. Please don't let me talk anybody out of going there and buying a car from them. They do have some nice cars and some really old and rare stuff there, just do your homework and have the vehicle inspected by a nutral party before buying. As for Christine/Clone...I've seen better, Much better.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 397 Location: McHenry Illinois | Hello All, I live about 10 minutes from the Volo Museum and I've seen the Volo "Christine" car many times. It is definatley not worth 125K. It has no bumper wings, and it has '57 trim on the tops of the front fenders and no dual rear view mirrors. What's really funky is that all the lower Sportone stainess (with the exception of the front fenders) is that chrome stick on JC Whitney molding. The gas door is filled in, and the body work on the left side is really wavy. That's why it's always parked up against the wall w/ ropes around it. Can't really tell if was originally a '57 or '58, was never able to verify the VIN, but it does have a majority of '58 features. The interior is red white and black vinyl very DIFFERENT from the movie cars. Alot of the pot metal chrome is pitted, especailly the vent window frames. I'd say MAYBE net worth 10-15k tops. Extreme Veteran Posts: 397 Location: McHenry Illinois | ......I almost bought Belvedere-Bills (above post) '58 the summer of '04 and I can say that HIS '58 Plymmie was 1000% better than Volos and he was only asking 16.5k or so. You can view Bills car at Plymouthcentral.com under visitors rides, John Strickland (the new owner). Dave W. Edited by My58PlymouthFury 2006-01-04 4:12 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 505 Location: Buffalo, NY | Looks like another "Christine Scam" only on a much larger scale. I absolutely loath people that claim to have authentic movie cars and parts. I got burned on one of the BS repro 150 mph speedo's on ebay. I was so p/o that I dedicated a page on my site about it. http://58belvedere.homestead.com/ Edited by Bloodhound 2006-01-14 1:29 PM
