I think about this filler pieces, too.
But at the end I decided to let the gap, because I do not have any holes in the door and wont drill

Place a parts wanted ad in the forum. I was missing a couple and the guys here were able to help out.

Believe it or not a lot of four-doors get parted out and these four-door only parts are still discoverable, with a little effort.

I was still missing a couple and by searching online for the part numbers I found NOS ones to complete my car.

Early '57 DeSoto's used plastic pieces to fill in, but those are even harder (impossible) to locate.

It took years of searching but I was able to find NOS vinyl pieces for my 58 N/Y'er wagon. I believe the parts book is incorrect on the part number and quantity for these items. I ended up with 2) 1757978 and 2) 1757979. These 4 pieces will do the straight up & down window posts, ie; L/F/R, R/R/F, for the 1757978 and the R/F/R, L/R/F for the 1757979. The angled posts take 2) 1757976 and 2)1757977. I THINK the 1757977 is for the L/F/F and R/R/R and 1757976 is for the R/F/F/ and L/R/R. Good luck in finding a complete set. The aluminum ones, like the picture of the one you have, were maybe an option?? Both of my wagons and my 4 door sedan did NOT have these aluminum pieces nor were there any holes to suggest that they ever had them. I had sent my originals to Gary Goers but he wasn't able to duplicate them and then he misplaced my originals.
I did just find 2 of the 1757978 vinyl pieces on ebay.
Attached are some pictures of the pieces on my wagon.

I've only ever seen '57s using the plastic filler pieces. Any '58s I've come across used the stainless filler, with the screws. Maybe it was an early '58 model year change? I imagine the change was because the plastic turned brittle and broke really easily.

I have located a couple of NOS plastic ones, for my hardtop. I think I will just use aluminum coloured silicone for my 4 door sedans...
