You shouldn't have to "scrunch" air filters to get something to fit.
Although Fram and others may not make them anymore, there are still plenty
of filters out there.  NAPA occasionally can still get them for me.  If
all
else fails, there's almost always somebody selling oval air filters on
ebay.
