You can't polish the anodized on our Furys.  It is covered with lacquer.
If 
you used steel wool you may have taken the lacquer coating off.  The only 
real way to brighten up the gold is to have it reanodized.  If you want to
do 
that you have to strip all the lacquer off.  If you leave any on the 
anodizing won't take.
