Re: [GFS] PLYMOUTH GAS TANK QUESTION

Hi Ed:

Yes, I got to Carlisle this year. I have been there regularly for at
least the last dozen years. It was nice to meet the gang and Jack Lewis
finally. He is really a great guy and we should be glad to have him hanging in there
on the newsletter.

My Fury is inching towards completion. Not much was done last year due
to travel and other exciting endevours. Here is what's going on with my Fury:

1. I am now polishing the stainless and putting the gold on the sides. I
now have the rear quarters done. The paint has been fine sanded and buffed
except for the doors and front fenders. Will do that before the trim goes on.

2. I think I have tracked down the correct aluminum intake and carbs. Will
know next week . After I rebuild the carbs I will put my two sets of cast
iron 2x4s up for sale.

3. I down shifted from drive to low at about 40 mph and popped the front
seal on the transmission. I need to put in a new seal to stop the oil leak.
Also, when the rear differential case was sand blasted the weld on the bottom
opened a little and is also leaking now. The differential needs to be pulled
and the case welded.

4. I have not been able to get the fuel guage to work yet, so cannot
install the radio and finish the dash.

5. Installing the power windows has been a puzzle as to how to connect the
wiring through the front door posts and the doors. At Carlisle I was able to
study a 56 Dodge with power windows to see how it is done. I have all the
correct parts and rubber, now all I have to do is install it along with new
wiring.

If I can get the paint, trim and windows done before winter this year, I will
be real happy. That means there is a chance that I can show it next year at
Carlisle. You should come out next year for the week end. You will enjoy
it.

I hear that your Fury will be in a new book on MoPars. Something to be proud
of. You have set the "gold" standard for 56 Fury restorations.

Regards,

John Teske
