In-Depth Rules for "Mopar Content"

With the Mopar Webring edging close to 480 member sites, I am finding it necessary to Strictly enforce the "MOPAR CONTENT" rule.

This means that after January 7, 1999 we will ONLY accept MOPAR sites.

This means that if you have a site on "Music"... but choose to publish only one page on mopar, with only one or two pics of a mopar car on it.... This WILL NOT qualify.

Your Site must be Mopar-Related, OR contain adequate Mopar content to satisfy the Mopar Surfers. Just one or two pictures will Not qualify as "Mopar Content"!!

The reason behind this step:

This ring generates quite a bit of traffic.... Traffic that some webmasters would like to bring to their sites...

We have had just too many applications for membership in the ring after adding only one page, with one or two Mopar pictures on it, to their website that exists 99% for another purpose.

This kind of application is simply not acceptable. It is not fair the the rest of the Ring sites that spend HOURS and HOURS of time trying to make their MOPAR site presentable and enjoyable to others.

Not to Mention that it is unfair to our Ring Surfers. They expect to see MOPAR sites.... Not some "Music" site with a couple of pics of cars on it.....

SO... Please... if your site is not weighted HEAVILY on the side of Mopar, you may wish to email me and ask before applying to the ring.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter!!

ADULT CONTENT RULE

OK OK... I know that "Adult Content" is WIDELY open for interpretation. Just remember, that this is MY ring, Therefore, it is MY interpretation that counts. [ period ]

I do not want to be a "prude"... however, I want this ring to be available for all Family Members!! A "safe" ring!! and MANY of our ring members are rated so that "Filters" can peruse them.

While I tend to overlook an Occassional "colorful" word or two, or even a couple border-line graphics... I WILL NOT tolorate offensive language, violent pictures or text, sexually explicit photos, graphics, text, or even "suggestive" photos!!! THIS INCLUDES YOUR LINKS.... If your site contains links to Porn (or equivalent) sites, YOU WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!

Also excluded are offensive sites with racial, pro or anti religous sites, or sites spewing other propaganda that I feel is not appropriate for younger viewers.

I DO NOT WANT TO CENSOR ANYONE'S SITE!!!! Your application to the ring is YOUR CHOICE... we just ask that you follow BASIC DESCENCY rules, and there will be no problem. I DO NOT MAKE anyone change their creative format... if you like your "adult content", Hey... that's your creative FREEDOM... but I RESERVE the RIGHT to REFUSE acceptance to any applicant.

REMEMBER.... when in doubt... Just ask :-) I would be happy to preview the site and let you know if there would be any problem.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter!!

"My Page is 'Under-Construction' "

We are requesting that mopar webring applicants with pages that are "Under Construction" , hold off on their application to the Ring until after they get their pages up and running, and their pages contain adequate Mopar Content.

This is to prevent the Ring from becoming a ring made up of only "one-pagers" with "under construction" plastered all over them. Pages like these Do Not hold visitors very long. Also, it is our experience that sites like these, that have been uploaded in the past, took MONTHS to actually get their Mopar Content up, if Ever !

For this reason, PLEASE try to have adequet Mopar Content on your page BEFORE applying for acceptance! I realize that webmasters are excited about their new creations, and want to start receiving visitors ASAP.... but Please remember... it is better to invite people to a page that is interesting, and keeps their attention, than to have visitors that stay only a few seconds, and can't wait to leave.

Keeping visitors is not too hard to do... just give them something interesting to look at, or an interesting story, or specifications, etc... If you take a few minutes to think, I am sure you can come up with many things that would be worth sharing.

For Mopar Clubs... a simple list of members cars & specs... or tell us about your club... how long have you been in existance, how your first meeting came about...etc...

Remember... Mopar enthusiast CRAVE MOPAR... doesnt matter if it is Graphics, Stories, Specifications.... Be Creative :-)

Thank you for your understanding of this rule.

"I have a COMMERCIAL website"

The Mopar Webring does not support any commercial sites, nor endorses or offer any opinion on such. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! Commercial sites may be legit, or may be scams, meant to part you from your hard-earned money!!!!!!

NOW.... If YOU have a commercial website... PLEASE do not apply to the Mopar Webring Unless you are MOSTLY or ALL MOPAR!!!! (Please refer to top "Mopar Content" rule).

If your site consists of only one page, with one or a couple of MOPAR vehicles FOR SALE... this type of page will NOT qualify for acceptance. You must add additional "Mopar Content". This is to prevent the situation where you sell all your Mopars, and now the page has no Mopar Content.

If your site is very large, containing only "ForSale" autos and/OR Parts... and is continually updated, adding New Mopar "For Sale" items, I may WAVE this rule on a SITE-BY-SITE basis....

OR.... If you email and make individual arrangements with ME, and promise to remove the site AS SOON as the vehicle/part sells (thus containing no other Mopar Content), then I may WAVE this rule on a SITE-BY-SITE basis....

Of course, commercial restoration sites that are well-known to all Mopar enthusiasts may be uploaded without question (ie, Year-One).

The SUREST way to avoid problems with this rule, is to add one or two other pages containing MOPAR, so your page does not totally rely on "for sale" items to qualify for admission to the ring.

REMEMBER.... When in doubt... Please Email Me!!! I am always happy to preview a site, and see if we can't come to a common ground.

Thank you for your understanding of this rule.

HTML and Webpage Assistance Area

OK.... For those who really don't have a CLUE as how to add the HTML and Images to their page...

FIRST: Go back to the home page http://surf.to/moparwebring and RE-READ the instructions (carefully) then, if you still need help.... do the following:

On the main page http://surf.to/moparwebring It will direct you to select the image size you prefer to use on your page(s) BIG or SMALL. You will see the (blue) Links to the HTML codes. Follow one of those links... You will find the html you will need to "cut" and "paste" into your home page...

If you Do Not know how to Cut & Paste.... You place your pointer (mouse) at the beginning of the words. Click and HOLD DOWN your LEFT mouse button..... dragging the HIGHTLIGHT to the bottom. When you have everything highlighted, Release the button. THEN place your mouse pointer on TOP of the highlighted text, Click with your RIGHT mouse button. Choose the option: COPY (or you can choose CUT... really does not matter at this point)...

Now you go to your WebPage Editing Area (for AOL, this would be the Personal Publisher area). See if you can locate an area "insert HTML" or "HTML" or "edit HTML" etc.... Place your mouse/pointer, Click with your RIGHT mouse button, choose "PASTE"....

NOW YOU WILL NEED TO EDIT the HTML code. For the BIG images, there will be 5 areas (3 on the Small code) that say YOUR- ID-NUMBER-HERE. ...Highlight these words, and replace them with your SITE ID# that you were assigned when you applied for membership in the ring. (for example... if you were assigned site id# 101 you would edit "ring=moparring site=YOUR-ID-NUMBER-HERE&next" to actually be "ring=moparring site=101&next".
NEXT....go back to the home page ..http://surf.to/moparwebring.... and choose the set of images that match your chosen code (big or small). Place your mouse over one button/image at a time. Click with your RIGHT mouse button, choose "Save image as".... let the image save with the default file name... do not change their file names!!!... make **special note where it is being saved onto your harddrive**, as you will need to find it later...

Then Return to your webpage editing/ File UPLOADING area , ("Myplace" in AOL), and upload each picture, one at a time, using their default names.

NOW... GO TO YOUR PAGE... SEE if the images and text look proper.... If they do.... drop me an email, I will take a peek at your code and pics, then upload your site ID into the main Webring.

Thanks~
Pat
