Re: IML: 80s exhaust question

to rob,
concerning the muffler and tailpipe on your 82:
the hanger above the axle is a heavy wire loop formed with an
eye on one end and a hook on the other. the hook goes thru a
hole in the upper hanger on 1 side and a bolt threads thru the eye
up into the upper hanger on the other side.
if this is assembled correctly it should not squeak or touch anything.
the rear "L" braket on the tailpipe is a slip fit and should not be too tight. as long as it is about centered in the rubber bushing it will function correctly.
another point about the hanger above the axle, if the one that is there is not the factory one , a replacement braket is available at napa, which will be a modified "L" and requires the use of a muffler
clamp around the pipe. still will work fine as i needed to do this on my dads car.
if i can be of any further help let me know.
frank
