Sorry Dick, I deleted the post before I saw the name on it. I had recaps on my first car, a 59 New Yorker. I agree that recaps were very popular in those days. You can still find them, but in the Arizona heat, I think I'd pass on them.

That same "someone else" hastens to point out, this was in the early to mid
50s, when things were much different regarding speeds and economic
conditions. Recaps were not that unusual, we had a very good business going
making them. I used them myself in my college days, when I had to make do on
$26 a week for EVERYTHING!

As someone else pointed out, what happens if these go to be recapped? I
wouldn't even dream of buying recaps, but I'm sure many on a budget do this.
