IML: Imperials and WPC in Burbank

Hi all -

Looks like I'll be a list-minute member of the WPC and should have my '66 in OK shape for the car show on Saturday, Johnny Carson Park, Burbank.

From an earlier post: "If any Imperial owners will be coming to the area and would like to get together, send me an email or call during the day to 310-468-4263.  I can recommend a few places to go to in the area that are a little different - the "Blue Room" a retro bar on San Fernando Road and Alameda and the "Viva Cantina" a Mexican restaurant near the LA Equestrian Center (Riverside and Main) that has live cowboy music most every night."  Also for a good view of the Valley, go to the Castaways, up the hill near De Bell Golf Course.

Also, two of the best auto book stores in the country are in Burbank: Autobooks (http://www.autobooks-aerobooks.com/) 3524 W. Magnolia and Fred Chaparro's used auto bookstore, Autobook Stop in Burbank, 1508A Magnolia Blvd. Contact Fred at 818-845-1202 or autobookstop@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The show headquarters is close to the newly named Bob Hope Airport, formerly Lockheed, which is long-gone from Burbank but once occupied hundreds of acres in that area.  Just up Hollywood Way is the former machine shop of Joel Thorne, famous race car owner and the story goes that Howard Hughes sublet part of his shop.

On Chandler just at the North Hollywood border is a former industrial bakery that now is the semi-secret GM styling studio.

Happy sightseeing!

Bob
