RE: IML: oil pump question

Remco,

The LA series of motors is more commonly referred to as the Mopar Small
Block. The LA was designed to replace the A-series Polly motors. It was a
thin wall casting (Light A) design starting with the 273. Other LA series
motors were the 318 starting in '68, the 340 & 360. The only Imperial to
get an LA motor was the coupe from the early '80's. However Chrysler made
millions of LA motors, so finding a pump should be relatively easy. Over
here we can run to any parts store to get one. I recommend the Melling
pumps, I've had good luck with them.

The LA, Poly, and early Hemi share some DNA, so some design improvements
that came about in the LA series can be retrofitted to your Hemi. Sorry,
all my experiences are with complete LA motors or the B & RBs. I haven't
adapted the LA pump to an early hemi.

Subject: IML: oil pump question

I found this on the internet :
See the "Tex Smith" book or the Source Table for adapting an "LA" pump,
improving oil flow to the bearings, converting to "full-flow" oil filters,
converting to spin-on cartridges, etc.

What is an LA pump and what are the modivications needed.

Regards
Remco
