RE: IML: 1960 Ghia Limo gone

Well folks, I am not one bit surprised.  I have the guys' number but hope someone else will be willing/able to report back to us.  Having talked to the guy I imagine he would tell you what it went for and where its going.   Or maybe you bought it, in that case I'd wait till you actually have the car off of this guys' property and then you can tell us all about it.  My guess is someone must have offered in the $15,000 to $20,000 range for this guy to pull the car off the auction.

I have always wanted a '60 and this would be the ultimate. It sure is a shame, I hope someone can rescue it.

Richard, I would love to hear aboout your cars. I love the Larry Blomberg story on the website. That car is exactly like the one my dopey friends and I used to make fun of back in the late 70's. My only lifes regret is not knocking on that grandma's door and offering to buy that car. Hindsight is truly 20/20.

Highly unlikely that anyone we know will end up with the car.  A friend of mine and myself have been interested in and trying to purchase the car for the past week.  The car has been sold twice now and the owner has renigged both times with cash in hand.  You will notice no feedback as he is now trying ebay for the first time.  I can certainly understand his wanting to get as much money as possible but his dealings have been unscrupulous.  He is now trying his luck on ebay and is going to let it ride.  It is a total mess suffering a broken window, rear quarter rust, and years of outdoor storage.  The interior was redone about six years ago but I am told it is now rotted and covered in mold.  The ad says it runs good, it doesn't, just look at the battery and carburator.  I talked to the owner this morning and his phone has been ringing off the hook.  As of 11 am he had a high offer from another country.  I will not reveal more than that as I may know who it is and I don't want to interfere.  I really was hoping to buy the car but knew it was lost the moment it turned up on ebay.  I shouldn't get so invested in these things, but I do, and it was a big dissapointment.  Aparently it has been in the Atlanta area for a number of years its wherabouts unknown.  We were really hoping we could keep it local.  The first buyer who was screwed was in Sweden.  Then, my friends' deal fell through and I was going to make a last ditch try before it went to ebay.  I think the list of frustrated buyers is going to get longer before it's over.  All of us here are hoping that the car finds a caring new owner to take on this project.  Best of luck.

My goodness everyone, check this out! It looks like it may go to the highest bidder, and so far it is only up to $2,000. It doesn't look that bad, although seeing such a fabulous car in pictures being stored outside in the weather is a real shame. The air cleaner is simply thrown in the back seat like this was just another old car! What a hoot! I believe it is in Georgia.

What a score if one of our members ends up with it!
