Re: IML: IML DIGEST

I have been to Speed, Kansas many times (my grandmother lived just a few miles away), and there is no way that it could be considered a city. I would guess that a population of 35 is probably optimistic (perhaps they counted on a Friday evening when the Branding Iron--about the only business in town--was crowded). I don't think that you could fit 5000 people inside the village limits. A couple of Imperials would take all the parking spots.

Will any Imperialists be there? I would love to see pictures of 5000 people in Speed.

Mattel today announced plans for a day-long Hot Wheels festival in the city
of Speed, Kan. on Sunday, August 6, to honor the rich automotive history of
Americas rural highways. The industry leader in die-cast cars expects a
crowd of more than 5,000 people to descend on the small Midwestern city
(population 35), and invites collectors and automotive enthusiasts to join
in the fun.
