Re: IML: Finally on the road

hi Donn,

Congrats with your 1960 Custom! It must be great to be finally able to
drive it around town:) I know the feeling!

with regard to the handling of the car, well.. Ofcourse it handles good,
thanks to the torsionbar design but it might be wise to check for rubber
bushings that have gone bad over the years.
It will only improve your already fine handling!

The turnsignal switch is another story.
Actually we have two switches here; a cancellation switch that is mounted
on the outside of the steering column, and we have the turnsignal switch
on the dash.

When you make a turn and press the switch in either right or left direcion
an electromagnet is holding the lever into position. The
cancellationswitch interrupts the power that is going to the electromagnet
after finishing the turn, causing the lever going back to its neutral
position.
For some reason the electromagnets in your turnsignal switch aren't
getting power, this might be caused by bad connections.

My first advice would be to carefully clean all connectors and see what
happens.

Good luck and have fun with your Imp!
