In fact, those new and brighter colors for the 50's were the result of new chemistry!  Before then, there really weren't any bright colors that were UV-stable to last in sunlight and weather, suitable for car finishes.  Technology and fashion are closely linked (think nylons in the 40's, polyester in the 70's, body-color soft bumpers on current model cars)!  Those with an interest might enjoy  a book called 'Mauve', about the development of the first aniline dye and the textile and chemical industries it spawned.  NOT the history they taught us in school, but it changed the world at least as much!  jc

I just bought a pink '59 Crown Imperial, ser# M637-104158.  This car was 

originally sold new in Tucson Arizona and is now in Vermont.  I wonder if 

there was some connection to the music world or Hollywood?  I think it was 

unusual for someone to order a pink car unless they wanted to attract 

special attention.

Is there a way of tracing ownership on these cars?
