Re: IML: 60 Imperial-starter availability

That's amazing!

25 years ago these starters were NOT available anyplace. I had to have my existing ones rebuilt. The later style for '62 and newer is a different story, and has always been available. I recently bought a brand new one, even new in design, for my '68. It bolted right on, but doesn't look or sound the same as the old one.

These will not work on 1961 and earlier.

You can get a rebuilt unit over the counter.

Looks new, but they are not being manufactured new
from 0 as far as I know. These are fairly common and
not a challenge. Rob, I know that you're overseas.
If you need help getting one, please write to me
off-list. I have a source for most of the stuff you'd
want for your car's mechanical needs and you can order
things from him via fax or email.

There may or may not be a core-charge, which is extra
fee if you do not turn in your old one to replentish
the supply of cores (so that they can rebuild your old
one and resell it).

The ND unit is truly new, as far as I know.
