Re: IML: Bad master cylinder

Another common but odd symptom is a suddenly very hard pedal, with little to absolutely no effect on slowing down the car. This can be intermittent, or continuous, and can be caused by crud in the bore, or a sloppy piston becoming jammed in the bore. As an intermittent problem the pedal may fluctuate occasionally at first, becoming more frequent, and then cease to activate the brakes altogether. Any fluctuations in pedal should be considered a sign of trouble and get prompt attention.

Brakes that don't work properly.

Fading, squishy pedal that progressively drops to the
floor when pressure is applied.
Leaking fluid on either side of the firewall.

Symptoms can also be due to leaks elsewhere in the
system.

If your MC fails, you could have 0 brakes in 0-4
fading pedal strokes depending.
