Dan,
Check
the choke for free movement; be sure it shuts when cold and opens fully when up
to temp. Also be sure the choke pull-off is working. It will be a
vacuum pot and linkage to force the choke open slightly as soon as the car
starts. If you can keep the car running, remove the air cleaner and open
the choke slightly by hand to see if it smoothes out.
