RE: IML: Please Welcome Chad Parker

Welcome, Chad!

It's really great to hear of someone in his teens, like you, getting a
vintage Imperial and wanting to preserve and enjoy it- particularly someone
one who wasn't even around yet when the last one was built and sold. I
bought my first Imp just out of high school, and would give just about
anything to still have it, and many of the others that have passed through
my hands. I spent many hours (and days) under my car with a [thoroughly
inadequate] generic repair-manual in one hand, and what tools I had
available to me then in the other- lots of trips to the store to buy some
needed tool before driving again. Now I do most of my own service and
maintenance work on my car, and have a good time doing it. It sounds like
you have a good start, working in an auto-body shop and gaining skills a lot
of the rest of us would love to have and use with our own cars.
Your most valuable asset is this on-line group; I have gained more
information and priceless knowledge here in the last couple of years than in
all the preceding... well, in a long time, anyway.
Good luck with your car, and above all- ENJOY IT!

suppose to be correct and is pretty well documented. I am now the third
owner and it is a local car. Needs paint and interior but has little to no
rust and no body damage.

> Self-Introduction: My name is Chad Parker and I am sixteen in the tenth
grade. I work after school at a local body shop. I just bought my Imperial
(LeBaron) 2 weeks ago with money I earned and saved over the past 3 years at
different body shops. This is my first car (that I paid for with my money.)
I also have a 68 Dodge Cornet but it's not the same as I didn't buy it with
my money. I plan to keep my Imperial orginal as it is.
> Man is it something.....soo long. If I would drive it to school, I'll have
to get 2 parking places....one behind the other. Really!

you will let me become a member....I know I'm only sixteen but am a hard
worker at and behave.
