There's no reason, not to use the original cable shift trans on a 440. As long as the engine is not a cast crank type, if it is, the torque converter balance weights can be welded to old T.C. There is a kit for that. The input shaft was changed in 65, the 62-65 shaft was a smaller dia. The large shaft was some 65's on. The old trans can be up-fitted with the large shaft. Then the late mod. T.C. can be used.Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.

Please note the RV trans (almost guaranteed post-'65) will be a rod shifter, not a cable shifter as your car's original was/is.  It's a one-year only anomaly with a column shifter that mates to a cable on the trans.  Conversions are available.
