Re: IML: VIN placement on a 1962

That's it. Ten digits, all numbers. The dash location did not start until
1968 and Chrysler did not start using letters until 1964-65.

A 1962 Imperial Crown vehicle number would be : 9223xxxxxx.

A 1962 Imperial LeBaron vehicle number - 8323xxxxxx.

The 'xxxxxx' is the sequential production number which started at 100001.

The modern 17-digit VIN did not appear until 1981.
