Re: IML: Imperials are a "C" or a ...???

Dan,

It was my experience at Carlisle, PA (All Chrysler Nationals) and in a telephone conversation with Year One that they do not support or sell parts for Imperials, ONLY muscle cars. I tried to order some parts for my 1966 Imperial and they told me that they do not manufacture parts for our cars. Imperials in 1964, 1965, and 1966 were not C-bodies and share very few parts if any at all with C-bodies since Imperials were full frame cars and C-bodies were unibody design. These years are D-bodies as previously stated in past IML discussions. Very few parts manufacturers recognize this letter designation and will corral them in with the C-bodies. Good luck with your dealings with Year One. They were useless to me. Your best resource for repro parts for a 66 Imperial is Gary Goers like Elijah suggested. His catalogs just aren't as well illustrated as Year Ones :)

Hi all....I was looking thru the YEAR ONE catalog I have and I am confused about the body style letter for our Imperials , or I just forgot what had been stated a while back on the list (probably BOTH, actually!).
Please correct me if I have this wrong or correct or..??
The Imperial's, I thought, were considered to be "D" body styles but SOME catalogs or collectors refer to them as "C" bodies..... sometimes! For example, when looking through the YEAR ONE catalog, can anyone out there who has this catalog tell me if my '66 Imperial is a 'C' or something else??? Several of the 'mopar' magazines I get have many ads that refer to the "A", "B", "E" and even "C" body styles...but NEVER have I read a ad that included "D" bodies. I have gotten to the point where I don't think of my Imperial as a 'C' or any letter for that matter. I just read on to see if whatever listing I am looking at actually says it will fit an '66 IMPERIAL! I may be missing LOTS of parts this way so I am looking for some 'enlightenment' on this.....and for some reason I am guessing that there is no easy answer here, right???
Thanks!
Dan Melnik
