Dan, the book says the heads are 1-1/4" Dorman # 565024, and the block is #565068 these are brass plugs. As far as using the rubber expandable plugs, be sure to clean the bore and install the plug dry, don't use sealers, sealers could cause the plug to " SQUIRT" out under pressure. The exhaust manifold gaskets, should be metal re-enforced, since the factory uses no gasket, it's important to transfer heat from the manifold to the cylinder head to prevent manifold overheating.The only sealer I use  for this is Permatex Hi-Tack, it will not impead heat transfer. Be careful to not over torque the bolts, you can crack the manifold.Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.
