Re: IML: Lap rope/Robe Rail

Both '61 Crown parts cars "out at the farm" have them too, but my '60 Crown doesn't.

Our '61 Crown has one.

They seem to be more of a traditional touch given to luxury cars these
days, or at least as recently as my 1980 high end FMC daily driver. It
has one fastened to the back of each front seat cushion, above the
magazine pockets. Although more solid than a "rope", it could still be
called a Robe Rail, but I think most people use them as an assist
handle to get out of the back of the car.

In 1960, LeBarons had it but I don't know if Crowns did, or even
LeBarons with swivel seats, for that matter. Customs did not have a
Robe Rail. The back of the front seat of my '65 Crown has a metal
handle on each side, as do my '55 and '56, but nothing that one could
hang a robe or a blanket from. Clearly they were more of an assist
handle.

And of course we can't forget the Lavalier Straps in '64 and later
LeBarons! My '68 has those, but no Robe Rail.

Definitely not me. I guess I'm younger than I thought...kinda. I would
have thought a 62 would have been long past the years of deficient
heaters. Did alot of different cars have them, or just the top of the
lines? The 60 rumbler american I had 25 years ago sure could have used
one. Of course, in ND you carried that stuff in the winter time anyway
if you traveled much.
