From what you described, you have a standard Chrysler Electronic. If thats the case, since the coil has voltage(positive) on it at all times, with key on, then to make a spark, you must have a ground for the coil.It would seem the ground is coming from the ECM, you can try un- plugging the pick-up from the dist. and see if it still sparks.But in any case, the components are dirt cheap to replace. It wouldn't hurt to check the engine harness, and make sure its ok Dave.
