Re: IML: Polishing/Buffing stainless trim & chrome

Hi!

First, start to grind with sandpaper (depending how bad trims you have) from 400 to 1200~(water sandpaper) and when that trim looks little dim but smooth and nice then take for examble, Autosol Chrome polishing paste, and use the sisal Buffing wheel, the spiral sewn wheel or anything like that. And there you go...you have nice polished trims.

Try for little area to make sure that you understand how this works. If that makes it shine, then you can go further.

Here is one site to look:

Hi All...I am looking for some info as to the 'proper' way to go about polishing the trim and bumpers (stainless steel & chrome) on 'Baron', my '66 LeBaron (I know, no imagination!). I know that somewhere out there, one of the IML members has got to know of a website that deals in polishing material/equipment that also probably has a few 'tutorials' on its site as to how best to polish up stainless and chrome. I realize that this is somewhat dependant on the polish or buffing wheel dressings that get used but if anyone has a good, instructional website I can read thru I'd appreciate it. Feel free to email me directly at "dansgarage@xxxxxxxxxxxx". I am continuing my 'google' attempts to also find such a site on my own but if you already know of one, please let me know.
Thanks a bunch!!

P.S. I know about Eastwood but didn't see anything other than some really nice products.
