IML: 1964 Steering Wheels

What determines the type of steering wheel an Imperial has? I see a lot of photos of Imperials with translucent sections, but mine is all black. Does it make a difference that it has tilt steering? Everything else about my steering wheel appears original.

If you are keeping track, I have a '64 Crown Coupe with the M8N black cloth with white leather interior, I have an adjustable column with a transluscent wheel. The car's trim has a black dash, white door panels. The standard column wheels seem to have an opaque body with transluscnet (tinted with matching hue) grip sections. My car was built on 11/18/63. I don't recall seeing a fully opaque adjustable column wheel like your's.

There is a write up on the website about the Shriner convertible for '64 having a green steering wheel whereas a transluscent wheel was usually fitted with white interiors, and interesting note that while the Shriner cars were usually loaded, they didn't know adjustable columns were to be on the option list so they arrived without this option. http://www.imperialclub.com/Rare/Shriner/cassady/index.htm
