Fw: IML: Restoring an Imperial

Hola Joe

If the two of you happen to be near the COS way and want to stop for the night, the front door is not locked.  I know that since your daughter moved away from here you have lost an good place to stay.

And this time Gabby does the cooking.

I know this is not off list, but I want you all to know that I am doing 2 61 Imperials as dependable drivers and will be going to Nashville, TN. when done.
So, Dan, you are close to me as I am in Palm Desert, Ca. You were going to come out before the heat is on. This way you can see what is involved in preparing an old car that has sat for too many years. Work that was done and has not been driven since many things were done, will have issues and should be readdressed as parts that sit and do not get lubrication are just as bad as cars that were driven and did not get proper maintenance.
I hear a lot of horror stories here and this is because of letting a car sit, either because of bad weather or no money to drive because of the gas prices or whatever other reason is used. These cars were dependable as daily drivers and should be used as such. Old, low mileage cars, scare me. They break down a lot. Use them and the miles will smile by. I would rather have nicks in the paint and runs all day long than no nicks that breaks down. ps, I have almost 500,000 on my always used 61 LeBaron and some of you know, I tow a 10,000 lb trailer with it, around the country.
This July, it will tow said trailer to Chryslers at Carlisle. My wife will be coming this time and handle the decal sales. I will be in the same spots. I again will be representing RT Specialties, Performance Car Graphics and my own Imperial parts. I will have a lot of restoration parts for B and E body cars for those of you who also have them. I have some 59 Imperial sheet metal, and 61, 62 and 63 for those of you who need that stuff. They are 4 doors and all hardtops. I do have 59 Imperial 4 door sedan doors. It is not free as the trip alone is expensive. The one last year was over $3,000. in fuel alone. If needing anything for those years only, email me at Spicemanii@xxxxxxx and I will make an effort if paid for in advance, to bring said parts. I also have NOS steering wheels for 60, and 61-62 only. No other Imperials. I have other NOS Mopar steering wheels also. No more wood grain wheels left or square clear flakes.
I will need an early advance on time to prepare the sheet metal as some of it has to be cut where you prefer the cuts. I will be loading 2 weeks before the show.
So, Dan, call me and come by to see if you want some things done. At least you are close. We met at a show last year. Joe Machado  cell # 760 413 9602. It is Cingular-ATT.
