Hello all, just so you know I do hope to start Reproducing Metal Parts at the end of this year or early next year. I do intend to be looking into making any and all required Imperial ( and all Mopar in General ) parts. I always look at them from the angle of " How can I make them stronger so they will not break" so it s quite possible the likes of the Horn Rings and Handles will be made available. I am also planing on making New One Piece Steering Wheels, so there are a few things that will be coming up. If anyone has any ideas on what parts are needed just drop me a line georgelaurie@xxxxxxxxxxx one of the problems with this is of course getting hold of nice parts to work with in the first place, so I am trying to gather the needed parts now, I know they will be hard to find. I do already have some nice steering wheels ( no 55/56 Imperial yet ) so I am hoping you guys will be able to help me out there, regards George.

PS- working on those Big 58 Imperial Door Trims now, the Chrome ones with the Crest in them, they will be expensive, but they will be available. Also if you want the Crown Gold as one customer has ordered that is no problem, with me it is possible to get what the factory did not offer ( HA ) ----- Original Message -----

Years ago when I had my '62 LeBaron the horn ring broke in the same spot currently being discussed and the car only had 33,000 miles!

I repaired it by fabricating a backing plate out of stainless plate to fit the original mounting plate. I can't recall the thickness of the steel I used but it was thick enough to resist bending and actuate the horn switch when the horn ring was pressed from any point along it, but still thin enough to mount as originally intended. As I recall I rivetted the horn ring to the new backing plate. I attached both of the original broken pieces to the new plate to gain as much extra stiffness as possible. I never had another problem.

But if someone can manufacture one out of better material that's great too.

Now how about the door handles on the 60-63 models?
