I agree -- check for tightness of the carb to the manifold.  Also, check for
any other vacuum hose that may be cracked/leaking/burned, like for instance,
the one to the power brake unit.

 Check for air leaks - especially if the carb is a little loose. 
It happened on my 69's Holley
