Hi Ed.
If your tank doesn't have great big gaping holes in it you can repair it yourself with the POR-15 gas tank repair/sealer kit which runs about $65.  I thought I had their site saved but I think it is www.por.com or something like it.  Other members might chip in with the exact address. 
The POR-15 folks give very detailed instructions and it is time consuming and you will have to pull/drop the tank your self but it's down time for your Imperial whether you do it or some shop does it and it is a lot cheaper and if done according to instructions, every bit as good.
