I guess Collectors Auto is a parts dealier then?

I will order a spare switch from them just in case my old one decide to give up :)

There are 9 parts vendors showing on Parts Voice that they stock the switch. Collectors Auto shows they have 51 of them. They fit all 60 with automatic trans. I believe they are the same for 60-63 & probably further. I wouldn't be too surprised if you could still get one from Chrysler. The part number is 1972052.

I don't know if you can get a new switch or not. There are switches out
there that could be made to work. The switch lever has a notch in it
that works in conjunction with the plastic push button arm. As with
anything, if you are careful, you can probably take it apart and fix it
if it doesn't work. I was able to make all of my original switches work
years ago, and as far as I know, they still do

I am glad to know that the switch is easy to reach (now that's a
change!, for one time something is easy to reach when it comes to the
dash of a 60).
You might have hit the nail on head that the switch have become loose,
I had to push the R button firmly since I own the car to make the
lights work.
This kind of operation won't do the switch to much good I am afraid..

Do you know if these switches are still available (new or NOS)?

If you take out the speedometer, you can see the switch in action when
you operate the reverse button. It may have become loose, or it might
need to be cleaned or replaced. It is a toggle that moves with the R
button. I believe that it can be easily by-passed with a manual toggle
as suggested earlier. The wires are visible once the speedometer is
out, and may be unplugged (or cut if necessary) to temporarily make the
lights functional for the inspection.

Its been a long time since I was inside there on my cars, I don't
recall anything difficult about accessing the switch. Good luck on

I need some advice with regard to my backup lights, they suddenly quit
working and since I have to go to the yearly inspection at my local DMV
next month, I will try to solve the problem asap.

I always had trouble since I own the car to make the backup lights lite
up. I have to hit the R button of the gear selector hard (and sometimes
a couple of times, alternating between N and R) to make it work.

So I guess the backup light switch is at fault and it need to be
replaced.

Am I right here, and if so ; How do you replace this switch? I guess it
is somehow connected to the gear selector assembly but I don't know
how.

If this switch is at fault, is it still possible to get a replacement?
Or is it repairable?
