Re: IML: lpg conversions

Used to do lpg conversions back in the day to lift trucks and other industrial and commercial type stuff, its basically a no brainer. Do a google search for Impco and see what you find, they were the predominant supplier of parts we used. Its very simple, you size a mixer ( carb ) to the engine, you add a vaporizer and regulator to convert the liquid lpg to a gaseous state and keep it at the correct pressure. You have to tap into the cooling system to provide hot water to the vaporizer to keep it from freezing up, which is generally done by tapping into the heater hoses, and you have to have a lockoff valve to keep the fuel shut off when it is not needed, as such when the engine is not running or the key is on but the engine is not running. The only other things are the plumbing AND a suitable tank. One can also tailor the engine to the unique qualities of lpg as a fuel, otherwise it has its pluses and minuses.
