Re: IML: A/C ReVamp

I'm no expert but that's about all there is to it. The system works fine with 134A. I think it leaks out a little easier, but it is also simple and safer on the do it yourself recharge than messing around with R12. I have found that the old expansion valve usually fails after servicing, so if you can get a new one, that would be a good thing to change. The system needs to be evacuated again after having been opened to change the valve before the recharge.

The RV-2 compressor was the only compressor used on the big block engines, as far as I've seen.To install a newer style compressor, would require custom fabrication of all the brackets. I believe a rebuild kit for an RV-2 is $45-75, an exchange is $100-150.The 134 kits are less than $100 You will need a vacuum pump to evacuate the system, before the re-charge.Rebuilding the RV-2 isn't too bad, I've done a few, the FSM covers it good.Ya'll have a nice day, Dave.

let's hear from the AC experts. Is it an easy conversion from R12 to
134a?
FOR THE CHRYSLERS 440 WITH the twin piston compressor/? Can a better
rotary compressor be used for efficiency(what brand and make) with
the old
twin piston compressor saved for authenticity in the trunk! Someboy
must
have been through this without an ac shop....
