Re: IML: Imperial headliner installation

My experience with this job on the 1960 is that it will go well as long as you are careful, follow the suggestions in the FSM, and have patience. My '60 Custom Sedan was the first headliner I ever did. That was 25 years ago. Since then, I have done 8 of them in various other cars. They all came out great, especially considering the cost quoted to me by trust worthy local upholstery shops.

I ran across Richard's update a few weeks back while searching the site for info on installing a headliner.  His comments and the link he provided has given me the confidence to do my own installation.  I'm awaiting some final parts then will let you all know how it goes.

BTW, riding around in my '60 without a headliner for the past year can be painful when you hit your head on the roof trim retaining screws.....yikes.

Dear David and Group,

In my latest revision of my Imperial Saga I detail what I went through to install my SMS headliner in my '60 Crown sedan.  There is also a link to a web site that provided invaluable tips. http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1960/60Burgess/Page08.htm
