I suppose the term "original" would apply only to a car that has its original paint, interior and bright work. In the shows I have attended a any repaint from new would take the car out of an original class.
As far as brakes, exhaust and mechanics go the car is still considered original even if these items have been rebuilt per original factory specifications. These items are considered maintainence.
