Re: IML: '55 Imperial rear muffler clamps

Jan;

I received photos of the brackets from Roger in Phoenix, AZ (mopar37206@xxxxxxx). They clarified all of my issues.

Again thanks to you and to Roger in Phoenix for your support and efforts.

Hi

I don't recall exactly but I'll look tonight and let you know, I think they attach to the bumper brackets.

Jan;

Thanks for your encouragement. My question can be further refined to ask whether the bracket fits the bumper supports near the pipes or on the frame. I could not find any holes in the frame or any of the bolts loosened from which I could have removed the bracket.

Hi

I have had mine apart several times in the past year or so while re-chroming. If you flip-flop the brackets several times you will see that there is only one way they will go, and it is not what you thought. If that doesn't work  I can go look and answer specific questions.

I am in the process of putting my '55 Newport back together after being painted and having the chrome restored. In the disassembly process, I took a lot of photos to help in the reconstruction. One area I did not take was the removal of the bumpers. I thought it was obvious. The bumpers themselves are, however, the rear hangers for the muffler were removed and I cannot figure out where they are mounted. The parts manual and FSM don't get into that detail. I really need some help form you '55 owners.

Thanks in advance for your help.
