Re: IML: Dick? A Proposal...

Gee Robert! Thanks for putting me in there with Dick, at least on the '60 Imperial. I probably don't deserve it, but like you, I had done the majority of work myself, back when I was driving Imperials for regular transportation, and no one else would/could work on them. Experience is the best teacher.

Funny thing about Dick, he remember's my Uncle Tony who owned a couple GULF gas stations in New Jersey in the 1950's. Dick's father's company did business with my uncle, and my uncle let Dick use the lift to work on his cars! Talk about a small world!

Well spoken Jack!

I really fully agree with you, imagine my case: I live in a foreign country (the Netherlands) far away from you US guys.

Nobody in my country have ever seen a 60 Imperial before or understand them, and since I do all the work on my car myself Dick's words of whisdom are a gift from heaven!

His hints and tips (together with the other outstanding expert on 60 Imperials: Paul Wentink) and all the other helpfull guys on the list keep my Imperial in fine condition.

I am really proud to be one of " the list" and I am sure it will only be a temporarily leave with regard to that " unsubscribe" message of Dick!

Robert

Fellow Imperialist's:

I have come to know Dick via this mystery of technology -to this Polock it still is- and have had as a result many exchanges which were heavily weighted in my favor, for he was giving away freely what the finest of school's could never teach nor offer:  life experience with engineering long since forgotten or deemed as unnecessary by too many.  With today's youngsters now unwilling to learn by hand in this want-it-now world, it was a dream to have a man of his character and willingness 'behind' me;  just another electrical impulse from thousands of miles away sharing a love affair with old steel cars, bound together through a common interest list as I undertook my first Imperial [for the record, the 1956 Imperial is his favorite year], and yet he treated me as if I grew up next door on his mountain, and knowing he could be counted on for an intelligent answer to the most minutiae of problems was/is gold in the bank and one of the main reasons I persevered.

I am with Gary and would hope the Club Powers That Be politely REFUSE this request and offer him "Member Emeritus" status on whatever terms he desires......and if it is necessary Dick to leave, I already miss your kilowatts of electrical wisdom and old car enthusiasm.......
