Has to be the carb. Would replace it asp. Check timing maybe wires. My
Imperials alway got between 11 to 16 or 17 mpg. It helped when I went to a
bigger carb and later manifold. The orginials are just to small and make
the engine work to had to get fuel. Had more power and better fuel milage.

Eek! I'd say a carb, at least - it should get between 11 & 16.

That being said, if you work at it, you can make an Imperial get almost
as little mileage as you want - full-throttle acceleration is thirsty. The
above was 'average' mileage, city driving is more like 8 or 10. My '69
averaged 13 very predictably when in good tune.
