RE: IML: 58 Imperial Carpet

Pardon moi. My 1958 trim is exactly 53. I inadvertently looked at my tag for my 57 4dr hdtp which is 51. I have them removed and was careless. Too many Imperials I'm afraid. Although that can't be too bad I suppose.

I will admit however that 58 the carpet while grey, does have a greenish hue to it. It is undoubtably cut pile though. What do other 58 sedan owners find in there cars for original carpet. Loop or cut-pile?

regards,
Dave

Your trim code is 51 ? If so, it is a green interior. Wouldn't it be a "53" instead ? I bought my carpet at SMS.

I sent to SMS for samples to do the resto on my 58 Custom Sedan. What they sent as factory correct was loop. Hmmm. My carpet was trash but it sure looked factory with the correct heelpad and all. It's grey cut pile. OK, so what's correct for a 58 Custom Sedan? My trim code is 51.

Hi all;
I need to replace the carpet in my '58 Custom 4 door sedan.
All of the sources in the IML parts list (ACC, etc) have only 2 door applications.
I want to do this right, with the serged edges and transmission tunnel split, etc.
Thanks for any leads.
Mark
