Most everything checks out fine.  18 inches of mercury at idle, proper vacuum gauge movement when revving.  (Everyone MUST check out the vacuum gauge section on the website - it is really neat!)   Good PCV valve, routed properly.  I think it's either a high pressure leak issue, and/or valve seals. 
 
I'll work on the leak ideas, try some 20W50, and maybe try the seals with heads on.  After that, the next proper step is an overhaul.

Has it already been determined that worn valve GUIDES are not the culprit?  This is easily checked with a vacuum gauge.
