Re: IML: Upper A Arm



I replaced the upper ball joints on a 66 Newport a few years ago. I was working at a factory in St. Louis which had pretty good machine shop facilities and a bunch of engineers who were into older cars.  Not one of them knew about the screw in ball joints of the Chryslers. They were all amazed when I clamped the A arm into one of their vices and un-screwed the old ball joint and then installed the new one!

You would think that if a front end shop KNEW WHAT THEY WERE
DOING, they should know that THIS and OTHER years of Chryslers
had THREADED ball joints and required a special socket to remove
and install.
