Jay nailed that one. -Make certain to congratulate

Late 1920's Imperials were equipped with the famous
Chrysler Straight Six, which many regarded as almost
the equal of the larger eights that were coming into
vogue in the larger luxury cars. That run in the
early 1930's was perhaps one of the first "horsepower
wars" - far in advance of the 1950's and 1960's jumps
in engine design.

Anyway, the Six was improved over time, and one of the
ways that this was accomplished was replacement of the
head with a higher compression unit. Keep in mind
that the engines had valves in their blocks and that
the head was essentially just a cast block of metal
with recesses that were the combustion chambers, each
with a threaded hole for the spark plug in the middle.

Anyway, there was a standard head, a mid-grade Silver
unit, and a Red-Head, as depicted in this really
pretty ad here:

The red-head was the premium engine option, producing
112hp - a big deal for a six of that era.

====================

The connection: In Italian, red-head is pronounced
"Testa-Rossa".

Enzo Ferrari later made painting his valve covers
and/or heads red a trademark of his cars.

What a copy-cat.

Been awhile since I asked, so here's another
question.

First one to reply to the WHOLE LIST wins public
recognition of their mastery on this topic.

Winning reply will contain a link to a "proof"
from
the imperialclub.com website and an explanation
that
closes the loop on my hint, OK?

    ---------------------

What Imperial had a premium "feature" that was
subsequently to become synonymous with Ferrari
cars
and even the name of a Ferrari model?

    Hint:
    =====
Skip the WHATS NEW page - this one's been
floating
around in the site for awhile.
