Re: IML: Wire Wheels

Actually the wheels are much less than 4000.00 I got an excellent set from a supplier in LA. These were the correct US manufactured set with perfect spinner caps, cast pot metal S/A the original factory Kelsey Hayes, My set were 1400.00 FOB LA

Wire wheels were not offered on the 1966 Imperial. The option was
withdrawn after 1955. They can be easily added since the '66 Imperial
has the same bolt pattern as older Imperials that did come with wire
wheels. These wheels are available either as originals that require
tubes and tube flaps or as reproductions that I believe are tubeless. A
new set complete with spinner cars and tires costs about $4,000. Old
sets usually require "truing" and rechroming which is about the same or
more. I have an original set on my '55. They look cool but it is
difficult to find tires shops that can work with them and they are hard
to keep clean.

Subject: Re: IML: 2 question's-wheels & 1932 Imperial

Hi all...in this months issue of HEMMING's there is an ad for someone
selling a
1966 Imperial "with wire wheels"..(on page 426)....I thought that
someone had
once told me that NO IMPERIALS for '66 came with wire wheels, even as
an option?
Am I wrong in this?

....2nd question:in the saem issue on page 424 there is a 1932
Imperial, in
indicated 'rough' shape for sale. I would really like someone on the
list who is
familiar with these year Imperials to give me a honest reply about just
how
much work it would be to get this vehicle turned into a
drivable/streetable
Imperial using a newer generation drivetrain (since the original is
completely
gone )
Thanks for any insight some of the experts here could provide....you
can email
me directly at "dansgarage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx"....
Thanks a bunch
Dan
